The central conflict in my novel includes Gecko, Arjay, and Terence, three boys in an experimental halfway house have accidentally put Douglas Healy in the hospital. This occurred when Terence was trying to escape through the fire escape. Arjay and Gecko were struggling to get him back inside when Mr. Healy came out onto the fire escape. As Healy was trying to break up the struggle, he was knocked off balance and fell over the railing. Healy plunged to the ground, and landed in a pile of trash cans. The end result of this was a head injury which caused Healy to lose his memory.
After bringing Healy to the hospital, Gecko, Arjay, and Terence were left to fend for themselves in the heart of Manhattan. Instead of fleeing for their freedom, the three boys stayed and ran the halfway house themselves. They attended school, kept up with their studies, attended community service, and group therapy. They also filed reports and sent them to their social services worker Ms. Vaughn. Hoping Healy would soon recover.
Gecko pretended to be in a volunteer program so he could visit Mr. Healy in the hospital everyday. After Healy recovered from his physical wounds, he was transferred to Bronx County Psychiatric Ward because of his memory loss. After finding this out the boys are feeling more remorse than they already were. "How could someone who isn't crazy be put in the nut house?" is how Terence explains it.
After recieving a call from Ms. Vaughn from social services, stating that she will be visiting them on Wednesday, the boys find out that they need to bust Healy out of the Psych Ward.
With the help of Roxanne, a girl who Gecko met and fell in love with while visiting Healy in the hospital, the trio plan and execute a break and enter of the maximum security Psychiatric Ward. After stealing a laundry truck, picking a couple locks, a high speed pursuit, and almost colliding with a train, Gecko, Arjay, Terence, Roxanne and Healy return to their apartment where yet another dilemma is waiting for them. DeAndre and his crew, (who Terence met at school), are waiting for them inside their apartment.
After a huge brawl and an attempted escape, DeAndre and his crew were arrested and sent to jail. During the attempted escape, Healy regains his memory after stepping out onto the fire escape. After so many struggles and conflict, the boys finally catch a break because it turns out that the Deputy Chief of Police is Roxanne's uncle. After hearing the boys stayed and ran the halfway house instead of fleeing, Deputy Chief Delancy told them he would not arrest them if Gecko promised to stay away from Roxanne.
After accepting the offer and having everything back to normal, The Juvie Three are back to their routine with Healy and back on track to freedom.
My question this week is if you had a chance to get away from every problem you have and start you life again, would you take it even though you had to hide your true identity for the rest of your life?

Blog #2
In my book "The Juvie Three" there are three main characters who go by the names of Graham "Gecko" Fosse, Terence Florian, and Arjay Moran.
Gecko was in juvie for being a getaway driver in a robbery. It all started when he was young, driving a go-kart. His older brother Reuben decided that Gecko was going to be the getaway driver for all of his heists. Gecko is a person who was good at two things, driving and not thinking. He doesn't really make a lot of decisions but when he does, it seems to get him in trouble. For example, when Mr. Healy is in the hospital, Gecko decides to go visit him to make sure he is still alive. It may seem like a good decision, but he is not supposed to leave his school or go anywhere unsupervised. He gets to the hospital and meets this girl Roxanne. This is where another bad decision is made. The couple had started dating and eventually, Roxanne invites Gecko to a party her father is having. They end up on a yacht and Gecko ends up face to face with the second highest rank police officer in New York - Deputy Chief Delancey. Eventually Delancy shows up at Gecko's school telling him he needs to break up with Roxanne. These decisions could have landed him and his two friends back in jail but luckily Chief Delancy does not know about Mr. Healy being in the hospital.
The next character is Terence Florian. He was a member of a gang in Chicago. He is sly, but yet he is loyal. Although he claims he does everything to save his "cred"(reputation), he has come through for both Gecko and Arjay. Terence has made many bad decisions throughout the novel. The fist being trying to find a "crew" to run with. He had tried to escape to meet this kid DeAndre, who he met in the school bathroom. DeAndre was selling stolen cell phones. This decision led to a struggle between the three boys which resulted in Healy landing both on the ground head first, then in the hospital. Another bad decision he has made is resorting to his old lifestyle. He constantly breaks the rules of the halfway house, but is yet to get caught by anyone other than Gecko or Arjay. Currently he is facing a decision to be accepted in DeAndres' crew. He must put an old lady in a fountain and bring her ring to DeAdre to prove it, if he does not, then he will be put in the fountain himself.
Finally there is Arjay Moran, the boy who is in jail for "murdering" the quarterback of his high school football team. Although he did punch the quarterback, he did not murder him. The quarterback fell back and hit his head off of the school statue and died. He is best described as the jolly green giant. He does not mean harm to anyone. He is the one always breaking up the fights between Gecko and Terence. He has made two bad decisions so far in the novel: he went out past curfew and seen Casey, a girl who he met in therapy. The second bad decision he made was he joined a band, which everyone fell in love with after just one performance. It was a bad decision because he's in a halfway house and can't go out unsupervised.
All in all, Gecko, Terence, and Arjay have all made bad decisions which could not only effect themselves, but all three of them. This leads up to my question, - If you were ever put in a position where you had to make a decision that would benefit you, but also drastically change the life of both others and yourself for the worse, what would you do?

The Juvie Three summary 1
The story begins with a boy named Gecko who was a getaway driver for a robbery his brother and his friends were involved in. He was trying to escape from the police when he rolled the car he was driving. Gecko ended up in the Jerome Atchison Juvenile Detention Center. After being beat by other boys he met Douglas Healy, a man who started an experimental halfway house in New York. Gecko was just given a second chance at life.
After Gecko left the Juvenile Detention Center with Healy, they made a stop at The Remsenville Correctional Facility ( a medium security adult prison)where they were picking up yet another juvenile "convict". The second boy to join the experiment is Arjay Moran. He is a fifteen year old who boy who is six foot five and 260 pounds. He was attacked by his high school football team and threw one punch. He hit the quarterback who fell back and hit his head off of a statue and died.
The third boy of the trio is Terence Florian, a member of the worst gang in Chicago. Terence was on Lion's Head Island, an alternative detention program.
The boys and Healy live in an apartment in New York, where they will attended school regularly and take part in community service and therapy. These boys don't know that Healy has a past that relates all to well to them. The three boys must comply to strict orders or they will be sent back to juvie, dooming them to a life in prison. A social services worker by the name of Ms. Vaughn, keeps a close eye on the boys waiting for them to slip up.
After Terence steals a key to a fire escape located in their room, he tries to escape. Gecko and Arjay catch him as he is leaving and try to keep him inside. There is a struggle which makes enough noise to wake Healy. As Healy comes towards the boys to break up the struggle, he is knocked over the railing and falls to the ground. Seeing that Healy is still breathing, the three boys steal a car and drive him to the hospital.
Question: If you were ever in a situation where you had broken the law, would you run from the police or turn yourself in? Why?
